Paulownia surfboard skin coming out of the sanding machine

Paulownia Surfboard Skins

We can supply surfboard skins in a range of thicknesses, cut from our stock of 2 m and 2.2 m long, 250 mm wide Paulownia planks.

Skins for rib and spine boards

We recently supplied 5 mm and 6 mm skins to customers down in Torquay and Ocean Grove in Victoria, who are busy building wooden surfboards using the traditional rib and spine method.

Thin skins for vacuum bagging

Thinner skins are also an option, down to 1.5 to 2 mm, if you want to vacuum bag Paulownia onto an EPS or PU core. We are probably one of the only suppliers of these in Australia.

How we make them

We first cut the planks into slightly thicker strips on our belt-fed horizontal bandsaw. Then we run them through our wide-belt sander to dress them down to the exact thickness you ask for.
