End view of stacked Paulownia planks

Quality Paulownia Timber and Wooden Surfboard materials in Sydney Australia!

We hold a large stock of kiln-dried Paulownia, the same timber we use for our hollow wooden surfboards. We supply it Australia-wide to surfboard makers, woodworkers, and anyone after a light, stable, good-looking timber.

What we stock

Most of our stock is in large sections. The biggest is 58 x 250 mm, rough sawn or skip dressed, in lengths from 2000 mm up to 3000 mm. Sections this size are hard to find in Australia, which makes the timber useful for a wide range of projects.

  • Dressing: any size can be partially or fully dressed, up to 50 x 250 x 3000 mm, on request.
  • Lengths: 2000, 2200, 2500, and 3000 mm, with longer lengths on request. Pieces can be cut shorter to bring freight costs down.
  • Strips: we cut surfboard strips from single, thick planks, so every strip has a very similar grain and colour tone. A mix is available if you ask.

What it is good for

Paulownia suits surfboard deck skins, chambered wooden boards, surf hand planes, and alaia boards. It is also a good substitute for pine and other common timbers in everyday woodworking. It cuts and sands well, and an oil finish makes the grain and character stand out.

Many builders consider it the best timber for wooden surfboards because it balances strength and hardness against low density. For more on that, see our post on Paulownia for surfboards.

Hello,

I’ve been trying to find someone that sells Paulownia wood. Do you sell small portions? What’s the minimum. I’m a beginner wood carver and Ive been carving masks so you can image an average size of a face mask. Ive been glueing several boards together and it’s been fine, but the quality of would isn’t that great.
I was told paulownia is the best for my needs.
Would I be able to get a quote on the minimum amount of wood and what that would get me, I would buy and bulk that way I wouldn’t have to keep ordering frequently.

Kind regards
Ryan
