Light and strong
At around 300 kg/m³, Paulownia has an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, which is why it suits hollow surfboards, alaias, and boats.
Straight, even grain
Pale, straight grain with few knots. Strips cut from one plank match in colour and grain across a whole board.
Easy to work
It cuts, sands, and shapes easily, and takes oil, stain, paint, and epoxy evenly. An oil finish brings out the grain.
Stable
Paulownia has low moisture absorption and holds its shape well.
Matched strips for hollow wooden surfboards
Our Paulownia deck skins are 6 mm thick and 250 mm wide, sold in packs of six strips for the top and bottom skins of a hollow board. Every strip in a pack is cut from the same thick plank, so grain and colour match across the board.
Packs come in 1800, 2000, and 2200 mm lengths. Other thicknesses, thin sheet for ribs and stringers, and mixed sets can be supplied on request.

Alaia and paipo blanks are edge-glued with waterproof polyurethane adhesive. Offcuts from CNC outline cuts are included where they are large enough.

Glued with waterproof polyurethane adhesive. Delivered sheet orders need at least 5 sheets in any mix of thicknesses, to cover packaging. No minimum if you collect.

One dressed face, one skip-dressed face, and sawn edges. $60.50 per lineal metre up to 2.5 m, and $66 per lineal metre for 3 m lengths. Lengths over 2.5 m (up to 4 m) have limited availability.

VJ boards are supplied raw. Samples are available, and other sizes are quoted on request.

We resaw large sections, dress timber on a four-side moulder, and CNC machine parts and outlines, so you get timber that is ready to use.
No order is too big or too small. Send us your sizes and quantities and we will quote it.

- Items 1 m or shorter are sent with Australia Post.
- Timber over 1 m long is sent with a range of couriers. We compare providers and use whichever is most economical for your address, and collecting from your nearest freight depot can save more.
- Collection from us in Sydney is free. Please contact us first to arrange a time.

What is Paulownia timber used for?

Can you cut Paulownia to size?
Yes. We cut and dress Paulownia to size, up to 50 x 250 x 3000 mm as standard, with longer lengths on request.
Do you supply Paulownia for wooden surfboard builders?
